GM: What norm is your business breaking?
MA: We are not here to shame you into purchasing a product on the pretense that it will make you feel more perfect and complete, rather, we are here to support and love you for exactly who you are. Sheabrand appreciates bodies of all shapes, colors, ages, abilities, and sizes and we celebrate the brains, brawns, and beautiful souls inside of them, too. That's a unique stance when it comes to the wellness and beauty industry who for centuries had been thriving on the backs of customers' insecurities.

GM: What's your WHY?
MA: There are so many and if I'm being completely honest, it changes depending on the week. This week my "why" is that we create products that actually help people. One of the most rewarding part of this business are the reviews we get. Reading that our products help people's quality of life brings me so much joy.

GM: What's a rule you've broken that you've never told anyone about?
MA: At my first real job I never told anyone my age. In my second interview, I was told the person who had the position I was interviewing for wasn't the right fit "because they were too young" and that they were looking for someone in their mid to late twenties. At the time I was 22 and it was my dream job so I nodded my head in the interview and agreed with them. I got the job and they never found out my age.

GM: What's your advice for future rule-breakers?
MA: It's important to question rules and laws. When were they set/written? Who decided on them? How can you challenge the norm in an impactful way? Be smart, do your research, and come at it with an interesting angle that can get others fired up about it.
