The ladies behind one our favorite (and tastiest) spots in LA @eatatjewel share their recipe for being thoughtful, passion-driven entrepreneurs. These ladies give us so much inspiration to keep up the fight to positively impact the food system.

GM: What norm is your business breaking?
J & S: We are breaking the norm by serving inspired chef driven food, that is good for you and good for the planet and won't break your wallet in a pretension free environment.

GM: What's your WHY?
J&S: It is clear that animal based food systems are not only profoundly destructive but the current pandemic (and past ones) is showing us that they are also extremely unsafe. The survival of the planet depends on more sustainable plant based food systems and we want to play a role in environmental preservation through food ethics. We also care deeply about making healthy food accessible to people experiencing nutrition oppression and food insecurity.

GM: What's your favorite rule to break on the reg?
J&S: Everyone is always trying to shrink us into a box or a sound bite but we are all so much more! We like to regularly defy categorization.

GM: What's a rule you've broken that you've never told anyone about?
J&S: I have never once gone to jury duty

GM: What's your advice for future rule-breakers?
J&S: Write things down. Journal, affirmations, whatever. But be clear about changes you want to see and how you see yourself affecting them.
